Improving Our Spiritual Understanding

Theme: Learn to rejoice when faced with Challenges.

Memory Verse:
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience” (James 1:2-3).

Beloved
God brings certain challenges your way to make you a better person. Someone has said that there is no school better than adversity.

It might appear paradoxical that one will be rejoicing when faced with trials, problems and challenges. However, this is exactly what Saint James is asking us to do, if you are a true child of God.

As per our memory verses, life trials and challenges are ways that our loving Father uses to train, refine, purify and strengthen us daily. By the grace of God, this writer is living example. My strong passion for the gospel and the Word of God is not merely based on what I have read about God in Christ or the goodness of Jesus when He was on earth, or preaching from powerful men of God, but on what God has done personally in my life.

The Bible tells us that while on earth, JESUS Himself learned a lot through His trials and tribulations. Hear what Apostle Paul says about Jesus:

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him”(Hebrews 5:8-9).

Anyone who have observed the life events of Apostle Paul will appreciate that he went through much trials and challenges, yet he called them “light affliction”. Hear what the word of God says about apostle Paul:

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”( 2 Cor 4:17). With a high spirit he declared:
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…”(2Cor 4:8-10).
Unfortunately, many believers learn to complain, grumble and murmur easily when they are faced with challenges, instead of learning to use such opportunities to rejoice and praise God. They are ignorant of the truth that as they have spoken, so God will do for them( Num 14:28). Life is about wisdom. Jesus is the wisdom and power of God (1Cor 1:24). In the course of my spiritual works, I have counselled believers with varied challenges including difficulty sleeping well at night. I remember explaining to them that anytime they are unable to sleep at night, it may be the good Lord waking them up to relate to Him! They should try spiritual meditation and reading the word of God and their sleep will be restored because God gives sleep to those he loves( Psalm 127:2).

I may not know the exact nature of your challenges, but you are serving the All Sufficient God. God that is more than enough. However, you have to obey Him totally and relate to Him with sincerity, humility, gratitude and righteousness. The Word says at the mention of the name Jesus, every knew should bow ( Phil 2:9-10). Every problem, discomfort, disease fizzle away at the name of Jesus, once you are on the right standing with Him.

That challenge of yours is nothing before Jehovah El-Shaddai. However, you have walk with him in perfection( Genesis 17:1).

Have a blessed and fruitful week in Jesus name. Amen.

It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh profit nothing ( John 6:63)

To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

Prayer: There is someone reading this message , may you receive the grace to learn to rejoice in the midst of trials in Jesus name. Amen.
