Do Not Mistake the Simplicity of the gospel.

Theme: Do Not Mistake the Simplicity of the gospel.
Memory Verse:
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2Cor 11:3)
Beloved
“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:9). We bless God in Christ for a new week. Please, ensure you stay with the Holy Spirit.
This week, the Lord is warning us not to mistake the simplicity in Christ Jesus. I remember, in the mid 90s while training to become a psychiatrist in Portsmouth, UK, I met a Nigerian lady ( also British ),  who wondered why I should be preaching or believing the Bible. She clearly told me the Bible was outdated! That the Bible has “never been revised”.  Please, never you allow yourself to fall into this ‘trap’ or what the Bible calls ‘the wiles of the devil’.
The Bible is the embodiment of the  word of God. It is the oldest book, yet the most current book in truth and facts. In the very beginning was the Word. The New Testament in particular, reveals to us the “the mind of Christ” (1Corinthians 2:16). The mind of Christ is an embodiment of the mind of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, power, peace, joy, compassion, care, humility, patience, diligence, faith and above all, love.  Why would anyone choose something less? Do you want peace, joy, love etc, then truly embrace JESUS CHRIST, but not in a religious sense but rather spiritually.
In the course of my training and work, I have met and read about a number of intellectuals who mistake the simplicity of the gospel. Some people expected the gospel to be presented in a much more complex way. The truth is that God is not a talkative. For example, God lists out series of blessings in Deuteronomy 28:1-14, but these blessings will not come unless we  ‘hearken diligently’ to all His commandments (Deuteronomy 28:1). Many people in the church hearken to God’s commandments but not diligently. They tend to forget that ‘ to obey is better than sacrifice ‘ (1Sam 15:22). Some people even give preference to church activities over the word of God.
As our memory verse warn, many people have been corrupted by the simplicity of the Word of God. The gospel is not merely in word but in power(1Cor 4:20). If you have received Jesus Christ into your heart, people want to see the POWER of God working through you. Power is the ability to do work. Whatever work you do by calling, the power of God can flow through you. You do not need to be in the health profession like some of us are, before the healing power of Almighty God in Christ Jesus, flows through you to others ( Mark 16:17-18). I have seen many lazy Christians in the body of Christ, yet they wonder why they are not prospering. All you keep hearing from them is ‘I don’t have a job’.  What a level of ignorance! Christianity is not just about praying 24 hours in a lazy way. Christianity is prayer at work (John 5:17). Ignorance by Christians has made many to be under evil manipulation by self-centred people in the name of a leading a ‘church’.
The gospel may appear simplistic but please, learn to pay attention to details if you want God to prosper you. Diligence is a very key factor to pleasing God ( Hebrews 11:6; Proverbs 22:29).
The gospel has been given to every man to prosper. Please, never mistake the simplicity of the gospel rather learn to pay attention to details.  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God”(1Corinthians 1:18).
To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness  (Matthew 6:33).
Prayer: There is someone reading this message, henceforth, may you never mistake the simplicity of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Jesus precious name. Amen.
