Title: Illuminating Your Path By Bro Bassey Usungedo
Date: 1 Apr 14
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psa. 119:105 Please let us lift up our hands and say thank you Jesus for your gift of Salvation. Halleluyah! Thank you for sparing your time again for us to reason together and happy new month. The word of God clearly states that the goings of a man is not in himself. That our going is of the lord; hence the necessity to have our path sufficiently illuminated. "Path" in our the text means your course through life. This is as complex as life itself. To navigate through life successfully requires good guidance. To guide is to teach somebody (practically), to inform somebody, to properly advice and direct. All these can be summed up as INSTRUCTION. Lamp and light have a metaphorical meaning of instruction. Therefore paraphrasing our text, it could read "Thy word is instruction for my course through life." Irrespective of the emergence of other sources of information and instructions such as tradition, religious groups, the occult, and philosophy; their inspiration are not divine. The Holy Bible remains the authentic source of Information and Instruction for the present life and that which is to come. Satan may come as an angel of light but he is not Light. Ladies and gentlemen, the Bible- God's road map for life, is the believer's source of divine instruction for our course through life. It adequately provides guidance, help and answers to all that pertains to life. In Proverbs 6: 23 The bible states thus "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life." Also in 2Timothy 3:16-17 it states that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly equipped unto all good works." Again Listen to Paul's remark on Timothy in 2Timothy 3:15 "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise." This remark conveys a simple message that the holy scripture has the ability to make us wise; guiding our every step through life. Prov 6:22, Josh 1:8 Remember, the Bible says we (those in Christ) are the children of light. IThess 5:5; and it also invited us to work in the light Isa 2:5, IJhn 1:5-7. Light is associated with life, salvation, prosperity, health, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and justice. These are all embedded in the scriptures for us and our children. The Holy Spirit is also present to open up (giving insight to) all scripture. We should cultivate a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit and build on our prayer life. God has also planted apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in the body of Christ to expound the scriptures and edify the body of whom we are members, we should obey and respect them. It should be noted that darkness is associated with failure, suffering, folly, sin and death. Darkness deprives and causes setbacks, hence we need light to overcome it as in Gen 1:1-3, John 1:5. Therefore let the word of God dwell in you richly so that your path can be a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day. Prov. 4:18. Remain Blessed.
