Improving Our Spiritual Understanding.
Theme: Spiritual Ignorance is the bane of many Christians.
Memory Verse:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” (Hosea 4:6).
Beloved
We bless the the name of the Lord for the year of grace and for being very gracious to us, especially to Nigeria and Nigeria. What happened during the just concluded presidential and governorship elections in Nigeria was unique. Only God in Christ could have done it. Personally, God has demonstrated His to me and my family this year.
Brethren, the Holy Spirit is speaking to us this week on the urgent need to address the spiritual ignorance in the body of Christ ( the Church). The truth may be bitter, but all of us need the truth, even if you do not believe in God in Christ. The word of God says:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
We show spiritual ignorance when we think, speak and in ways that are contrary to the word of God, without being aware of it. It is spiritual ignorance that will make a “born again” Christian to make statements such as:
“I don’t need deliverance’
“I have always been a good person, I never did some of the bad things my peers were doing as a teenager”.
“If I am arrogant I want to live with it”.
“A man of God cannot sin”.
“I do not believe in witches and wizards”.
Believe me, ” born again” Christians have made these statements or similar ones out of spiritual ignorance. Many “born again” Christians have continued to remain in bondage despite having accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Many have remained in bondage because of ignorance, dishonesty, insincerity, ingratitude, pride and arrogance. The Word of God says: ”
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).
Actually, to do things contrary to the word of God (unrighteousness) is an oppression, based on the word of God: “In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee”(Isa 54:14).
You can never overcome the powers of darkness without the light in the word of God. God in Christ is my witness that I have so much thirst and hunger in my heart for His word of God (Matt 5:6), since the day He opened my eyes to understand freedom indeed. It is not the Will of God that His children should remain in darkness having made contact with light. However, God has given everyone a free will to make a choice. No doubt my professional training as a psychiatrist has helped my spiritual understanding. I am often surprised that believers find it difficult to be open and honest in their thoughts and feelings. Many find it difficult to acknowledge
and confess bitterness, anger, hatred, ingratitude, unforgiveness, insincerity, pride, arrogance etc. The truth is that these negative traits have spiritual roots that need to be uprooted(Matt 15:13). We can not be totally “delivered” without uprooting these traits in us.
Some people make contact with the Ministry of the Word, with the motive of what they can get materially. Perhaps, these people are ignorant of the truth that just like the kingdom of God, the Ministry of the Word: ”
…is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” (Romans 14:17).
Make sufficient efforts to sincerely key into the Core Principles of The Ministry of the Word, and watch your life transformed within a short period. The principles of God in Christ are in the word of God for us to practice: Sow and you shall reap; have no evil thoughts against anyone, and no evil thoughts from others will prosper in your life; seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and everything you need in life shall be added into you; be diligent and obedient and the blessing s of God will follow up; do unto others as you want others to do to you etc.
You can be free indeed if you want. It is your responsible to overcome darkness with the light in the Word. You have no reason to remain in darkness when you have access to light. The reason why may not embrace light is because they are afraid their unrighteous deeds shall be exposed ( John 3:19).
We thank God that the Ministry of the Word was not revealed to us by flesh or man but by the Spirit of the Living God.

To grow spiritually increasingly requires daily meditation in the word of God, with total fear of God. Train yourself to be godly…(Tim 4:7-8, NIV)

In the Ministry Of the Word (MOW)-Acts 6:4, we primarily encourage and empower believers to be rich in the words of God: “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” (Col 3:16). The entrance of the WORD is the true source of LIGHT in a dark world(Ps 119:130). We also encourage believers to speak to one another “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs(Eph 5:19). We encourage everyone to “seek first the kingdom of God his righteousness”..Matt 6:33).
We stress that: Righteousness exalts a person (Prov 14:34). We emphasize that pure Christianity is about True Spirituality in Christ Jesus. We emphasize that the POWER in the blood of Jesus has set us FREE from all forms of bondage, ignorance, disease and that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2Cor 3:17). Jesus Christ is the Word of God (John 1:1; Rev 19:13). We emphasise that Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). The words of God are spirit & are Life(John 6:63). We allow the Scriptures to answer all questions. We avoid the dilution, misinterpretation or deliberate corruption of the words of God. We create the awareness that Jesus has made all true believers kings and priests unto God and his Father(Rev 1:6). In addition, aside from soul winning, as a spiritual body, we also empower unbelievers with knowledge using the principles of our Lord Jesus Christ with the understanding that when they witness the power of the living God, they will be compelled to believe and exalt His holy name (Psalm 46:10).
One major objective of MOW is to increasingly improve everyone’s spiritual understanding! Spiritual ignorance is a major cause of human destruction(Hosea 4:6). Indeed, many children of God have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge (Isa 5:13). Indeed, “through knowledge shall the just be delivered” (Prov 11:9). We are established by the righteousness in the word of God (Isa 54:14).
