Was JESUS CHRIST a Christian or not?

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you” (Hab 1:5).

Brethren , it is a great privilege to be a Christian. Regrettably, not many people have understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Ignorance is seriously trying to destroy the Church of Jesus Christ ( Hosea 4:6).

Am sure many of you have seen the message or query below posted on  the Whatsapp MOW group by a Christian sister. Ordinarily, I would not have reacted, but the Holy Spirit reminded me that the scripture is for our learning and edification (2Tim 3:16-17).

The sister wrote:

This message was not backed up by any scripture or word of God which is powerful (Hebrews 4:12). I  probably would not have reacted but for the sentence :”Jesus was not Christian”.

Beloved, am sure most people will agree with me that without JESUS CHRIST, there would have been no Christianity. Jesus Christ, the Son of the most high God is the beginning and ending of Christianity. To be a Christian means to be “Christ-like”; it means to conform to the image and likeness of Christ. Everything a Christian needs to know in life was embedded in Jesus Christ. The word “Christian” is derived from the word “Christ”, meaning the anointed one. Thus, Jesus Christ was a “perfect Christian” while on earth.

So, how would a believer say Jesus Christ was not a Christian, when he is the Author and Finisher of Christianity (Hebrews 12:2). Please, as you attend fellowship in the Church, be careful who ministers to your spirit; be careful what message you take in. Always cross check what you hear with the standard in the word of God (Bible). Yes, Jesus was a  natural Jew, but by the virtue of His divine birth and anointing, He became a spiritual Jew, a spiritual Israelite. So there are natural Israelites and there are spiritual Israelites. Every true believer in Jesus Christ is a spiritual Israelite! Unfortunately, there are many Christians in the Church today, who are not Christ-like.

I do hope the sister will benefit from this message, and understands that there are Jewish Christians (spiritual Israelites) and there are the natural Jews, whose faith is Judaism (old Testament only). The sister needs to know that as a believer in Jesus Christ, she is a spiritual Israelite, of the genealogy of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel after he won the battle( Genesis 32:28). For in Christ Jesus, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus”(Gal 3:28).

It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh profit nothing ( John 6:63)
