PROOFS OF A SPIRIT FILLED LIFE
“So I say, live by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature” (Galatians 516).
Living by the spirit is the will of God for us as Christians for without it, we’ll find it impossible to live a life pleasing unto Him. When we live by the spirit it will just be natural for us to bear the fruit of the Spirit as listed in Galatians 5:22-23.
In Colossians 3:12-14, we’re told: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, cloth yourselves with compassion. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity”
These are the proofs of a spirit filled life which is God’s expectation from us as his children. The Bible says that we should cloth ourselves, that is we should put on, cultivate, or develop the virtues of:
1. compassion – We are to be compassionate to others by way of feeling their pain and opt to do something about it.
2. Kindness – We’re to be nice to people, seek to be a blessing or do good to others as we have opportunity to do it. We’re to be concerned with other’s welfare.
3. Humility – It is expected of us to live a humble life as believers. High mindedness or pride should not be part of us, but be ready to identify with those of lower calibre with the understanding that we are what we are by the grace of God.
4.Gentleness – As God’s children, we’re to be gentle in our behavior as carriers of the Holy Spirit who is symbolized by a dove. The Holy Spirit doesn’t thrive, and so should we as well.
May God help us to imbibe these virtues even as we hope to please our Creator in Jesus name. Amen
Be blessed.
