Improving Our Spiritual Understanding
Theme: Know your true Source of Empowerment.
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).
We bless God for a new week ushering us into the last month in 2015. This is a season of praise , thanks giving and stock taking. As we praise Him, may He take us to a higher level of knowledge , wisdom and understanding in Jesus name.
In Christ Jesus, may God open our eyes to understand the scriptures in Jesus name. Beloved, power is the ability to do work. Everyone requires empowerment. Jesus Himself was empowered (anointed) to work when he was on earth( Acts 10:38).
Empowerment could come from the Holy Spirit, as promised in our memory verse. This is true empowerment indeed. Empowerment could also come from Satan and his demons but not without a costly price. Empowerment could come from man (limited empowerment), especially if such a person occupies very high position such as president of a country or Prime Minister, but such empowerment is still limited.
Within the body of Christ( the church), I am often amazed that believers run very easily to pastors, prophets , and bishops at the slightest challenge. Why do such believers readily take their look or focus away from the true source of their empowerment-the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. Every true believer should learn to stay CONNECTED to the Truth, the true source of empowerment. The bishop and the president may fail you, but Jesus can never fail you. Meditate on the word of God and apply it to yourself and it will generate revelational power in you. The word of God says you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you(Phil 4:13). That verse did not say you can do all things by running to a bishop or evangelist or president of country. There is nothing wrong going to a true man of God to act as a vessel for your anointing but you must learn to be independent to a large extent. Frequently running to pastor or bishop at the slightest problem is making mockery of the Holy Spirit of God that dwells in you in Christ Jesus. Do not limit yourself. In Christ Jesus, you are a king and a priest (Revelation 1:6).
The word of God says put no confidence in the flesh:
“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD” (Jeremiah 17:5).
I have already written a message recently on the need to avoid ignorance-a terrible spiritual disease. If you are truly born again, you are a spirit being. You belong to a heavenly family of joy. Remain connected to the fire of the Holy Spirit and you yourself will become fire. Stop tolerating that challenge that you don’t like. If you are overweight or obese , in Christ Jesus , something can be done about it. If you are underweight, you can address it. If you are diabetic or hypertensive, or in severe pains, something can be done about it. Stop saying the problem runs in our family, because in Christ Jesus, spiritually, you belong to a divine family of perfection and excellence, where there is no obesity, underweight, diabetes, hypertension or pains. You have been recreated in Christ Jesus to bring glory to God in everything (Isaiah 43:7). What you need is more of the Holy Spirit of God. Where the Holy Spirit dwells, no disease can survive. With a change of life style- regular exercise , relaxation, good diet with some medication as necessary , the good Lord will help you to turn things around.
To grow spiritually increasingly requires daily meditation in the word of God, with total fear of God. Train yourself yourself to be godly…(Tim 4:7-8, NIV). Learn to meditate on the word of God day and night ( Joshua 1:8).
Prayer: There is someone reading this message , receive the grace to have increasing knowledge of your true source of empowerment in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
