Theme: Practice Makes Perfect

Memory Verse:
“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect” (Genesis 17:1).
Beloved
We bless our perfect God and the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As per our memory verse, in Christ, God has called all His children to walk with Him in Perfection. This week the Lord is directing His children to focus on perfection, excellence and holiness. The LORD is reminding us that the blessings of Deuteronomy 28:1-14, is premised on perfect, complete obedience to His word.

In a broad sense, perfection is state of completion, flawlessness or excellence. To be perfect is to be pure, without blemish, mistake or error. Perfection does not come with ease. Only in Christ are we complete. Perfection can only come from the Holy Spirit and without Him, it’s impossible to be perfect. When the enemies of Daniel examined him, they could find no single blemish to accuse him with, because the spirit of excellence (the Holy Spirit) was in him (Daniel 6:3).

Our theme for this week says practice makes practice. The Lord is my witness how often I encourage my spiritual children to learn to write. They often find writing spiritual messages very challenging. Some of them appear ashamed to learn. Many of them could spend hours talking ( only God knows what they are talking about), instead of spending the time to learn to write spiritual messages that the Lord could use to bless others. It is well recognised in teaching methods that writing facilitates learning a lot more that listening without taking down note. Perfection does not just come; it comes through practice. There is a saying that if you don’t use it, you lose it! As anointed as Jesus was, the scripture enabled us to know that He Himself learned obedience through what He suffered:
“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:8-9).
The challenges you go through should lead you to total obedience and perfection; so in the midst of challenges, remain focused on the Word and refuse to be distracted.
Jesus while on earth was both fully divine and human. No single blemish was found in Him. He says:”Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” ( Matthew 5:48); He says only the pure in heart shall see God (Matthew 5:8).

Jesus is God’s perfect gift to humanity, though many are ignorant of this truth. When a gift is from God, it must be perfect:
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
Many Christians treat sins, mistakes and errors with levity. Remember the word of St James: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” ( James 2:10). What God expects from you is complete obedience.

What you do with the gift of God is entirely your choice. Thank God we are playing our role. Refuse to be ignorant. Henceforth, start to practice writing and sharing the word of God with others prayerfully. Though it might appear challenging initially, persist in it with consistency and as you write spiritual messages, I can assure you that with time, the Holy Spirit will take over.
Receive the grace to daily share the word of God with others in Jesus name. Amen
To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). However, the first thing you must desire greatly is total spiritual freedom through the truth in the word of God ( John 8:32).

Prayer: There is someone reading this message, receive the grace to practice sharing the word of God with others in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
