We bless the name of the LORD for guiding us through the month of January to February to March, and NOW, here comes April 2016. Praise God! Halelujah!
Brethren, you may have been a ‘born again’ Christian for years, but without sanctification, you will find your work and walk with Jesus Christ extremely difficult . Many Christians are born again but they are still carnal. My father in the Lord, pastor Adeboye in one of his messages said, and I quote him: ” Your greatest enemy is you”. Not witches and wizards and certainly not your mother in-law. If an individual can overcome pride, anger, impatience, bitterness, laziness, ignorance, fear, anxiety, hatred, grumbling and complaining etc, certainly such a person is on his way to the TOP.
According to our memory verse, you can be sanctified through the truth in the word of God. I often sympathise with Christians who lie over the slightest issue in order to cover up a mistake.
What exactly is sanctification? The online Wikipedia states: To sanctify is to literally “set apart for particular use in a special purpose or work and to make holy or sacred.” My understanding is that sanctification is a gift of empowerment from Holy Spirit which help to clean, refine, purify, filter and transform the individual, thereby making it easier for the person to live a life of righteousness and holiness. Without righteousness a man is never established and never free from oppression (Isaiah 54:14). Without the empowerment or anointing by the Holy Spirit, sacrificial Christian living will be impossible. Apostle Paul enjoined believers: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Romans 12:1).
Empowerment by the Holy Spirit is a promise by the Word of God ( Act 1:8). If you are not enjoying daily infilling by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), it is likely that you have NOT satisfied His conditions. The Holy Spirit will only dwell in a vessel that is pure. The book of Proverbs says: “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Prov 16:7). Believe me, the easiest way to expose and frustrate every act of darkness by pretenders around you is through the light and fire of the Holy Spirit. The entrance of the word of God gives light (Psalm 119:130).
I am often amazed that many Christians find it difficult to share the word of God with one another, unless on Sundays for some brethren. Why would a child of God find it difficult to communicate using the language of his Father? If the word of God is not flowing through your mouth, it is because you have not taken time to fill your heart with the word of God. Jesus while speaking said:
“for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matt 12:34). Be mindful of your thoughts and words. Speak the word only ( Matthew 8:8).
Every born again Christian should desire a ‘spiritual heart transplant’. No one can enjoy intimacy with God in Christ without a NEW HEART. Our old heart is stony and rebellious God had promised us a new heart long before Jesus Christ was manifested : “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).
This is your season to receive a new heart. This is your season of sanctification. In humility ask God to sanctify you as you spend time with the word of God.
To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
Prayer: There is someone reading this message , be. sanctified by the truth in the word of God even as you receive a new heart in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
