Ministry Of the Word (MOW): True Spirituality

Improving our Spiritual Understanding

Memory Verses

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:13-18).

Beloved

Today ‘s message has been adapted from a previous message written a few years ago by an active participant in this platform. Praise God, the person is still active in the ministry and would recall this message which I believe is timely again .

The moment you give your life to Christ, you are enrolled as a soldier in God’s army. You put on uniform from that hour and are given weapons to go along. Your weapons of war and whole armour are listed in Ephesians 6:13-18. Just as the earthly army is a place of discipline and toughness, Christianity is a call to the life of spiritual discipline; it’s a life of spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12) and spiritual violence (Matthew 11:12).

Jesus Christ is our commanding officer and your primary focus should be to please the Lord and do whatever he wants you to do. The point I am making is that it may not always be convenient to please the Word: “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” (2Timothy 2:4).

It takes your personal determination to take certain drastic steps in order to follow the path that God has called you to follow. It may cost you a dear friend, a close relative, a valued investment or sometimes even tears and brokenness. This is the reason why the WORD encourages us to endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (2 Tim 2:3).

While hardship basically refers to lack and want, hardness means toughness. God is encouraging us to be tough spiritually. This means stay on course even though you are swayed by the boisterous waves of life; whatever happens, stick with the word of God and let His word be your final answer. Just like the soldier is always at the disposal of his commanding officer, when it is time for war, he doesn’t make excuses; he operates a regimented lifestyle, because he knows whose authority he obeys. You are an active soldier in the Lord’s army, a soldier on duty; therefore don’t get encumbered with trivial affairs of life.

Look on Jesus and concentrate on doing his will and pleasing him. Let others be challenged by your faith and godly lifestyle. Keep your uniform on and stand firm in faith, train yourself to rejoice in long suffering (Galatians 5:22).

Stay on God’s word until you get the right response as a good soldier in God’s army.

May the Holy Ghost grant you understanding in Jesus name, and may He continually guide you through His word.

To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). It also requires total fear of God, and spiritual training in the word of God: “Train yourself to be godly”(1Tim 4:7-8 NIV).

Prayer

Dear Father, please help us to be effective as soldiers of the cross in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
