Memory Verse

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

Dearly Beloved

We salute everyone in the name of the Lord, especially members of the family of our great God in Christ Jesus. A very good morning to you all.

Beloved, as you start off this year, make every effort to become spiritual. In my view, many people out there that are lacking in spiritual awareness, within the church and outside the church. Interestingly, I have met a few unbelievers ( such as Atheist) who told me they are spiritual persons. This suggests that one can be spiritual to some extent without ‘going to Church’ or attending the ‘Mosque’, ‘Temple’ or ‘Synagogue’.  Personally, my understanding is that everyone can become spiritual to an extent, even without belonging to a religious group. Religions are meant to be platforms for spiritual growth, with regard to bringing out the best spiritual virtues of humility, diligence, honesty, transparency, mercy, forgiveness , joy, peace, kindness, compassion and love. There is no law against these virtues as they cut across religions and cultures.

According Jesus Christ Himself in the memory verse, the words of God are spirit and life. This implies that the words of man are spirit and they can be the source of life or death depending on who man align himself with. The book of Proverbs says death and life are in the power of the tongue ( Proverbs 18:21).

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus Christ enables us to know that the word of God is a spiritual seed; he explained:

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God” ( Luke 8:11).  In life, we reap what we sow ( Galatians 6:7). Please, do not allow anything in this world to take away the word of God in you or interfere with your source of life.

Nothing in the world compares with the word of God.

Meditating regularly on the word of God should be a significant source of spiritual growth and strength for those who believe in God. Become a good ground for the word of God. Be sincere and honest. Have a good heart. Think no evil of anyone. Allow the word of God to produce the ‘fruit of the Spirit’ ( Galatians 5:22) in you for others to see.

Jesus explained :

“No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light” ( Luke 8:16).

Let your light shines for men to see. Do not hesitate to share the word of God with others. There is always a WORD in the word of God to share. When you sincerely share the word of God with others, you are sowing seed, and your harvest time must come.

The word of God is the word of life and

the entrance of the word of God gives light. There no excuse to have to word of God and be miserable in life.

Be spiritually enlightened

To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). It requires total fear of God, and spiritual training in the word of God: “Train yourself to be godly”(1Tim 4:7-8 NIV).
